00:00:00 Hi there everybody. It's just me today, Regan, your host of money through ease founder of all ease accounting and the creator of the mind the gap course. This is a self-paced digital course that I created for myself for me 10 years ago. This is the course that I wished that I had had when I first started my career in accounting. 00:00:24 For bookkeeping, I really really wanted this kind of step by step guided information. 00:00:24 OK. 00:00:32 On how to have a bookkeeping system that supports you and your business. When I graduated college, it was 2014. That's ten years ago now. I had a degree in math and physics, but I decided to take a left turn and I became an accountant. So even though I was working under. 00:00:52 Someone else is tutelage. I had to learn how to do bookkeeping almost entirely by myself. 00:00:59 I was given projects which I love a good project and I just sunk my teeth into them and I worked them and then I developed the skill of bookkeeping. I was stopped Googling things. A lot of the time, like how to record an asset or what the heck is a liability? I wasn't getting a lot of one-on-one support. 00:01:19 And not long into my career, I realized that creating educational content can be extremely valuable for business owners to become entrepreneurs, to learn how to organize business that is sustainable and supports them with an income. 00:01:36 I have wanted to create mind the gap for many years. It didn't have that name. Whenever I first thought about doing something like this and part of the reason I quit my job in 2022 and started my business was so that I could create this body of work for you. Something that I didn't originally have planned, but has worked itself. 00:01:58 Out in creating this course is the community aspect of it. I have not only given you the tools and the resources and the content and the videos and the audios and the PDFs and the spreadsheets on how to do your bookkeeping and how to run a sustainable business, but I've created the community part of this. 00:02:19 So that you're not doing this work alone and when you enroll in mind the gap, you get access to an already very engaged community. This is not a course that you purchase and don't make time to come back to. 00:02:34 This is not a course that you purchase, and then you forget to work on it. This is because I've built in non punitive accountability, which means that you don't get punished for not doing something, but there is someone there, me, all my other clients to cheer you on. Whenever you do accomplish things in your business. 00:02:56 As long as you tell us about. 00:02:57 Them and there's accounts. 00:02:58 Quality. 00:02:59 In the way that I'm going to come check up on you when you told me you wanted to do something in your business, you wanted to develop some sort of practice or routine. And I'm. 00:03:08 Going to ask. 00:03:08 You how that's going and not in a way that makes you feel like **** and not in a way that shames you or makes you feel guilty for not doing things because it doesn't really matter to me. 00:03:19 They're not. You do your bookkeeping right. Like that's between you and the IRS. 00:03:24 But if you want to be successful, which I want you to be, that's going to require you to have these systems in place and that is what non punitive accountability means to me. When you're in my space, you don't get to feel shame or guilt about not doing the things you said you wanted to do, but you do get celebrated. 00:03:44 For having the little steps along the way, I've also built in coworking because this has been huge for me and my business. 00:03:53 Is to have that accountability, to sit there in my house by myself, but to be on camera with somebody else, to have somebody else see me working, somehow tricks my brain into staying on task more. And sometimes we even just shoot the **** and we talk about stuff. 00:04:13 Or we get feedback on whatever we're working on, you know, collaborative time. All of that goes on inside coworking, and that's built into the community on a regular basis, not on different days of. 00:04:27 Month. 00:04:28 But on an expected time frame that you can just put on your calendar and then show up whenever you are available, you also get an ongoing library of resources from me. I have the base content of mind the gap done you have video and audio lessons you've got. 00:04:48 PDF transcripts so that the lessons are accessible to anybody. You have downloadable content so that you can work through these templates. 00:04:58 And questions and resources using the numbers in your own business and that library will continue to grow. I intend to continue to add information, add lessons and content as the Community needs. If I see the community struggling with a particular area, I may go back in and rework that. 00:05:20 Module that content I may add additional resources, I may add a tutorial where I show you the steps of the process. This will be an ongoing library of resources from me and participants and students will have always no choice but to learn. 00:05:38 Even if you are passively engaged, what do I mean by passively engaged? I mean that just by you being in there and the course which is hosted on the teachable platform. 00:05:52 And inside the community, which is a private Facebook group with me and all of my other clients, even if you're just in there. 00:06:00 And you are scrolling by on Facebook and you happen to see a post from me asking you a question or prompting a discussion or you see somebody else posting and they're celebrating their wins and what they've accomplished this month in their business just by you passively engaging in that way, you have no choice. 00:06:21 But to grow a little bit in your business? 00:06:24 To be encouraged to set up your own routines and to celebrate your own wins, and to get curious about what it might look like for you to have an organized, sustainable business. Now listen, I know what it's like to be ignorant about bookkeeping and to be ignorant about running a small business. I have a math and physics. 00:06:45 Degree like I told you in the beginning, I don't have any formal training on accounting or bookkeeping. 00:06:51 I figured it out myself. I have zero formal training. 00:06:55 On what running a business looks like, I only have the experience of sitting front row to all of my clients over the past decade and how they ran their businesses. 00:07:07 I've lived it. 00:07:10 Learning by myself and figuring it out as I go. Just like you're doing right now. 00:07:17 And it's OK to not know what the heck is going on and not know where to turn and not know what resources to even look up or questions to ask. I have lived that experience and it's kind of ****** whenever you ask questions and someone doesn't answer you and someone weaponizes your ignorance. 00:07:37 Against you, which is what happened to me. 00:07:41 Instead of being asked to find no difference between an asset and a liability, and when I said no, I don't know the difference being told what the difference was. Instead of that happening, I got asked, do you know the difference between an asset and a liability? And then that turned around on me and used against me? 00:08:01 As why I'm not good enough, why I'm not smart enough, why I don't have enough experience to do this work? Well, you all know that's a crock of ****. 00:08:10 And I sort of knew it at the time, but I actually internalized a lot of. 00:08:14 And I've had to undo a lot of that work just because you have a knowledge gap, quote, UN quote, ignorance about something that was never taught to you doesn't make you stupid. And it doesn't make you unqualified to run a business. That is why we are here inside mind the gap. 00:08:35 We are going from that place of literally just not knowing what to do or how things work. 00:08:43 To the empowered business owner that's in the leadership role in their business, that is making the decisions from an informed place, from an empowered place through their numbers. I was in that position for many years and I still managed, albeit the harder and longer way to learn how to do this work correctly. 00:09:03 And that is why my mission is to empower others to do the same. But you don't have to do it the hard way, because the option now exists for education and as safe and supportive environment. 00:09:17 Where your knowledge gaps and your ignorance that just comes from not knowing how to do something that you've never been taught. I'm not saying ignorant in a bad way, but that won't be weaponized against you. You're in a safe environment whenever you're inside. Mind the gap. I'm not ever going to tell you that you don't have what it takes or you're inexperienced and you know. 00:09:37 Beat you up about it. That goes back to that non punitive accountability. If you're here to ask questions because you don't know something, my role is to answer those questions for you and teach you how it *******. 00:09:48 Works. 00:09:49 I'm an expert at what I do when it comes to QuickBooks Online and bookkeeping. 00:09:54 I can say now I've got a decade under my belt. I've been doing this for 10 years and you just can't get this kind of high touch, impactful learning from anyone else. I promise. I'm an expert at what I do. You just cannot get this kind of high touch, impactful learning from anybody else I've got. 00:10:14 The formulas that you need to determine whether something is affordable in your business or not. 00:10:20 When it signed the hire a workforce and to grow or not, when it might be time for you to close your business or not, you are going to be changed and your life is going to be changed and your business is going to be changed because you won't be living in the dark anymore about your money and living in the dark about money is not fun or productive for anybody. We all. 00:10:40 Know this. We've all been there, living paycheck to paycheck, not knowing what's going to happen next week and whether or not we can make rent. We have all been there. It's not fun, it's not productive, and it's not how we grow business while you grow your client or customer list. 00:10:56 While you learn how to sell and market your business effectively, you need to have systems in place to track those numbers and to keep things organized. And this work is crucial to you as a business owner. Having agency over your life plus. 00:11:13 We've got the community, there's built in, networking and support. Are you ready to make your business more organized? 00:11:20 Are you ready to have a business that's profitable and have a way to actually measure that? I want you to enroll and mind the gap. If you know anything about Astros. 00:11:54 You know that this is a pretty big year for some change and some shifts that are happening on a celestial level and that's why we're not doing it anymore.
